November 2 - November 6

Religion: As we continue to learn about what it means to be uniquely created by God, we will examine emotions (unit 1, theme 3), heredity vs environment (unit 1, theme 4) and what it means to be a unique personne created in the image of God (unit 1, theme 5).

Art:  This week in art,  we are looking at one & two-point perspective.  Then, students will have 3 work periods to create a cityscape using one-point or two-point perspective.  This will take us until the end of next week.

October 26 - October 30

Religion:  AFter the Religion Test on Tuesday, October 27th, we will Begin to learn about What it means to be uniquely created by God.  This is unit #1 of the Fully ALive program.

Art: This week, students have a choice of 2 pieces.  They can work on creating a card for Mayor Jim Watson's Christmas Card Contest.  Or, they can work on an aerial view of a pumpkin.  Happy Halloween!

October 19 - October 23

Religion: This week, we will talk about communities.  THere are notes available in Hapara Workspace.  We will focus on the Christian community.  In doing so, we will discuss what unites us as a Christian community (our shared faith, traditions and stories).  This will lead us into studying the Bible.  What is it? When was it written? What is it about? and how can we use it?

There will be a Religion Test on Tuesday, October 27th.  It will be open book.  The test will focus on 3 main themes of unit 1:

  • Une personne balancée
  • Les communautés
  • La Bible

Art:  Students have work periods to finish their colour theory project.  This must be submitted through Hapara workspace.

October 13 - October 16

Religion:  We will begin looking at what makes a balanced person.  As humans we are mind/body/spirit people.  Students are usually pretty clear on the idea of a healthy body and a healthy mind but sometimes struggle to understand the concept of a healthy spirit.

Art:  This week in art, we are working on colour.  Colours can be warm or cold, we will look at how shade, tint, value and hue change the way we see colours.  We will learn about the psychology of colours.  Then, students will begin a colour project.  All links to lessons and project are in the Art workspace in Hapara.

October 5 - October 9

Religion: As we wrap up our unit on digital citizenship, students are challenged to reflect on themselves as digital citizens.  The culminating task ask students to think of 5 of their positive characteristics and explain how these positive characteristics come across through their online activities. Then, students will design a digital footprint which reflects them as responsible digital citizens.   Time permitting, we will begin learning about Godès great love for each one of us as individuals.

Art: This week in art, we will continue to work on our shading project (instructions are in the Hapara Workspace: Grade 7 Visual Art).  The shading project is due October 7th and should be submitted electronically through Hapara.  Later this week, we will Look at colour theory and the psychology of colour.

September 28 - October 2

Religion:  We will wrap up our unit on Digital Citizenship and students will work on creating a digital footprint which reflects them.

Art:  As we go deeper into the elements of art, we will explore the  following element: shading.

September 21-25

Religion:  Samaritans on the Digital Road

This week, we will be focusing on the OCSB lessons surrounding digital citizenship.  We will basically be learning about how to be Good Samaritans online.  We will look at the parable of The Good Samaritan and examine how that applies to technology.  We will also examine what kinds of things are appropriate to post online and students will learn that every single thing the pout out through technology can be traced, searched, copied, shared and is permanent!

Art:  This week in Art we will finish our masked self-portraits.  Stay tuned for some super examples.
Then we will have an in-depth look at the elements of visual art (lessons available on Hapara Workspace).
